The Squires

Every week, we’ll be uploading stories or articles from our archives. The Squires is a short story by Kit Moss, writing as Nan Hawthorne, and illustrated by Rowan Lewgalon.   It was first published in issue 8 of August 2009.

The characters in this story are drawn from Nan Hawthorne’s novel Beloved Pilgrim, which tells how Elisabeth von Winterkirche joined the doomed Crusade of 1101 disguised as her late twin brother. Beloved Pilgrim is available in print and Kindle format at Amazon and Smashwords.
